Shock-Absorbing Stirrups and innovative Spurs

Developed through the partnership between a showjumper and an engineer (Caroline and Laurent Bordes), Flex-on set about creating a solution for the sore knees and ankles experienced by many riders on the competition circuit and the Flex-on Stirrup was born.

Flex-on Stirrups use elastomer “springs”, which cushion and reduce the shock-waves generated by the horse’s movements. This helps the rider’s stability and reduces pressure on the riders’ joints, helping to prevent injuries. This unique, shock absorption technology is then combined with customisable design.

The offset leather slot facilitates the optimum leg position and contact with the horse, as well as an easily-regained stirrup should the rider lose it. The wide footbed gives a wide area of support. All the stirrups can be customised with a choice of Frame and Elastomer colours, as well as footbed angle and colour; tread grip; and decorative magnetic attachments.

The range of styles includes:

• The Green Composite   – the “green” in the name refers to the environmentally-sound sourcing of the polyamide material which covers the sprung steel frame, which is hot-forged and treated against oxidation for strength and longevity.
• The Safe-On Safety Stirrup  – with an outer branch which opens and releases the foot as the rider’s weight acts against it in the event of a fall. 
• The Aluminium Stirrup   – made from a special type of aluminium used in the aerospace industry.  Machined from a single block, the stirrups are both exceptionally strong and extremely lightweight.
• Junior versions of the Green Composite and the Safe-On are also available.
